Get To Know Mark & Anthony
This week, I (Hugo) sat down with the (other) faces of Three Pence Roasters, Mark and Anthony, to help our dear readers get to know them a little better! Stick around to learn about how Three Pence got started, how we operate and get a little more personal to see that we’re not just pretty faces roasting coffee beans.
Q. How was Three Pence born?
A. We’re coffee lovers turned coffee roasters on a mission to serve consistently excellent, sustainable and ethical coffee. We started roasting coffee in Anthony’s garage in Cronulla back in 2014 and Three Pence was officially born in 2017.
Q. What’s the best part about your job?
A. That it revolves around a staple of modern society and culture, coffee is a daily ritual for so many people and we can elevate that experience for them. To us, there is nothing worse than a bad cup of coffee, so we want to provide a good brew to as many people as we can!
Q. How is it being mates with a business partner?
A. The best thing about being mates is that we look forward to getting to work each day and having a great brew before we get started…. Mark can’t roast to save his life and Anthony can’t add up… so together we are the perfect team.
Q. How many coffees do you drink in one day? And what’s your order?
A. Let’s just say you can’t count on one hand! Our orders are piccolos all round!
Q. What’s your pet peeve?
A. Overthinking coffee! Just enjoy the experience and trust the fact that whenever you wrap your taste buds around a Three Pence coffee your day is only going to get better.
Q. Who leaves the warehouse in a mess?
A. Clearly not Anthony or Mark… must be someone else!
Q. Which is your favourite Three Pence blend?
A. As cliché as it sounds, that really is like asking who the favourite child is, i.e. there is one, but we will never tell. 😉
Q. What’s next for Three Pence?
A. As you may have seen, we’re currently releasing a series of Single Origins to our product range which will be changing up every few months, so keep an eye out for our next drop! Otherwise, you will have to watch this space.
